Hello there friend...
Capturing memories leaves a legacy for your future family.

Investing in good quality Family photos is important as this will leave a story for your kids and grandkids. Future generations will also be able to be connected to those who lived before them. Letting your kids observe photos of family from the past and the present, allows them to become more connected to their own story. In some sense they can familiarise themselves with the family members and ancestors who came before them and this helps shape the world and person they see today.
Below I have compiled a few tips for families considering a family photo shoot so that they can get the most out of family session by being well prepared:
👪 Get the whole family excited and involved
Depending on your children's age it's always good to get the involved from the beginning and inform them how fun and exciting the family photoshoot will be. Encourage your kids to choose their best outfits, and their favourite toys for the shoot ,as this will make them feel part of the journey. Kids play a huge role in these sessions and having them well prepared makes a big difference on the day of the shoot in terms of their overall behaviour and involvement. Getting your spouse mentally prepared and invested in the process is also important. Couples can work together to choose which outfits will work best, the main ingredient is working together, so planning is key to ensure the journey to the shoot runs as smooth as possible.
👪 Mum and Dad look your best

Mums- As your photo shoot will be done professionally, you want to ensure you looks your best. Mums if you are in a position to spend a little extra on yourself...I want to encourage you to have your hair and make up done professionally or ensure you take the time to focus on your hair and make up as this gives most woman the confidence they need to look their best and I want you to be well prepared, confident and beautiful for the family shoot as this will reflect on your family as well. My photo sessions are performed in the afternoons, so you can plan your appointments (nails, hair, make up) in the morning or day before to ensure you have enough time.
Makeup- Apply your make-up a bit more heavier then normal with a Matt finish
Hair - Get your hair done a day or two before the shoot
Nails- Ensure your nails are tidy and clean. Apply a fresh coat of nail polish preferably a neutral colour which matches the colour of your clothes
Eyebrows- Please wax/pluck your eyebrows to look clean

Dads- ensure you look your best as well, plan a haircut a few days before the shoot and a beard trim/shave in the morning so that you can look fresh and handsome.
Hair - Get a hair cut a day or two before the shoot
Facial Hair- Trim your sideburns, moustache and beared . Get a fresh shave with a new razor and apply moisturiser after the shave to avoid redness and bumps on your face
Eyebrows- Please wax/pluck your eyebrows to look clean
👪 Clothing and Appearance
Shirts- Each individual should wear a coloured shirt that compliment each other. Colours do not have to be exactly the same for each person, but varying shades of the same colour works best. Try to stick to neutral and soft colours.
Avoid colours which are very bright. Avoid wearing logos, characters and patterns as these will take focus away from you and lay more emphasis on your clothing than on your pretty face.
Pants- Everyone can wear jeans and that will look great as long as you are not wearing the same colour shirts. Avoid Tracksuit pants.
Shoes- Please make sure you shoes are clean and in good appearance. Where possible try and match your shoes with your outfits.
Jewellery and Accessories- Any kind of Jewellery can be worn as this compliments the outfit in general. Scarfs and headbands are also great to add some colour in the mix.
Kids- Please ensure you bring extra clothes for your kids if you want them to have more than one particular look and just in case they have a accident or get dirty.
👪 Family Photo Session Tips

Make sure you have plenty of time to get ready on the day of the shoot. Also leave home a little bit earlier so that you can arrive on time at the photo shoot location, you don't want to feel rushed and disorganised on the day of the shoot.
Take the pressure of yourselves to feel like you need to perform a certain way at the photo shoot, just relax and be yourselves. I will guide you through the process...In general its about having fun and enjoying your time together as a family.. while I'm in the background busy capturing your beautiful memories.
Be sure to show affection to one another in the form of a touch, hug or a kiss.
Play with your kids, throw them in the air, tickle them and just have fun and be yourselves.
How to prepare for a Family Photo Session?
Before the day of your session we can have a conversation about any questions or concerns you might have. After the discussion we should have the following questions answered:
1) Your Family Photography Shooting location (indoor or outdoor)
2) The Date and Time
3) What the family will be wearing
4) Different types of photos you would like of your family
5) How we can work together to allow for the best photos
Once we have established all of the above ,we can proceed with booking your Family photo session. When I get to the shoot location, I will have a brief discussion with you and your family and guide you through the whole process. Overall the session should take 1 to 2 hours, but I'm in no rush, you and your family can take your time to feel comfortable in front of the camera and just be yourselves while having loads of fun. Once your session is done, I will let you know when your photos will be available.
In conclusion...Family Photography is an fun, exciting and bonding time with with family which every family should at least experience once in their lifetime... Documenting and investing in family photos is worth every moment spent together.. so why not go ahead an book a session with me.
